Design for Peace

REFLECTION

Post election many of us are experiencing anxiety, fear, and uncertainty about the future. Now more than ever we need to have spaces where we can retreat, relax, and feel grounded and safe.  This may be at home, a community space, a club, or a place within our community where we feel a sense of belonging.

Spaces that evoke personal peace often have three key elements:

Elements of nature (biophilic) which calm our nervous system and remind us of how things change over time. How resilience or weathering challenges calm is possible.  Natural elements can remind us of the scale of the world.

Curated memory/inspirational/cultural elements might be something collected while traveling, a family heirloom, a piece of art that brings joy.  These elements help us come into the present moment where we can feel unified without own selves.

Comfortable furniture that invites lounging or stillness.  For some, comfort is a soft deep sofa with loads of loose pillows and others it is a firm clean line sofa that makes the getting up and down more easeful.

Look around and see what you need to create sanctuary for you, your family and your community.  We’re here if you need help.
